Procession for the King

Processional for the King In mid-September, the world witnessed the many ceremonies and processionals in England in honor of the late monarch, Queen Elizabeth ll. Those in the many military and Christian processionals wanted the world to know that the Queen had made a difference. On September 18, members of Greenwood Memorial marched in a procession in honor of our GOD and KING as we celebrated Harvest Sunday. After an absence of in-person worship due to the pandemic, we came together on that Sunday to show the Four Corners neighborhood that God, through Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit, has made a difference in the world and changed our lives forever. As the procession moved from Washington Street into the sanctuary, we were led by the cross-bearers and liturgical dance ministers as we sang the hymn, We’re Marching to Zion. The processional was made special because the children of our church created colored paper prayer chains and marched in the processional to remind us of the power of prayer. The colorful chains will be on the rail until November 6. Thanks to all who offered support and advice to make the day go smoothly. The donated flowers were planted in the church garden space, while the pumpkins on the pulpit reminded us of the daily harvest of blessings that God offers the world.
