Giving Thanks

"The one who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving is the one who honors me. And it is to the one who charts the correct path that I will show divine salvation." PSALM 50:23

As we enter the season of the world's recognition of Thanksgiving, we understand that, as God's people, we live in a never-ending season of Thanksgiving. Why? We are thankful because we remember what God has done for us and through us. We are thankful because God has seen us through many challenging situations. God has given us the opportunity to be in places where we can receive care and offer care to others. God has given us homes. God has given us friends and family. God has sheltered us. God has given us healing. God has given us restoration. God has offered us renewal. God has given us a new understanding of who we are in Christ Jesus. We are Disciples of Jesus Christ. God has made us part of the family of the Kingdom.. God has made us his Ambassadors. God has made us his First Responders. God has allowed us to tell the old, old story of Jesus and his love. God has allowed us to remember how many times we have been delivered from horrific situations in this life.We recognize the joy in Christ that the world can not give us. God has allowed us to be the Greenwood Memorial United Methodist Church family. God has allowed us to remember all the Holy and Beautiful things about the Greenwood Memorial Community. God continually gives us New Visions and Dreams to sustain this part of the Kingdom.

As we remember and celebrate the Holy and Beautiful of Greenwood and lift our Dreams and Visions for Greenwood. Psalm 50 says to offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving in honor of God. I call on the people of God to honor and sustain God’s work among us with special monetary offerings in November and December envelopes.
