Mothering Sunday vs Mother’s Day Mothering Sunday: On Mothering Sunday, people who had moved away from where they grew up came back to visit their home or 'mother' churches and their mothers. It was on the fourth Sunday of Lent. Mother’s Day: A secular holiday in the United States held on the second Sunday of May for mothers and others who nurture. Rev.
